About Tate Project
I am a practising sculptor with a history of Artists Residencies in industry – in factories, and most recently in an abandoned copper mine, responding to site and context as the starting-point and driver of the work.
I am also a 0.6 Senior Lecturer and Leader of the Research Group for Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Salford. In 2013, I undertook a Research Residency at Tate Britain during a Sabbatical granted from the University to study and research the O + I/ APG (Artists Placement Group) Archive .
The maxim of the APG was “Context is half the work”, one of the driving forces in the last 50 years in fine art practice, and is the legacy of my own work.
It is a very significant archive within the history and legacy of socially-engaged Arts practice and Artists Placements in Industry, and this project led to new insights and the development of my work and ideas.
The Blog to be found here documents my day-to-day archive studies, findings and thoughts.
