Pachuca Mining Museum

Today I visited the quirky Museum of Mining in Pachuca, a large city in Hidalgo State which is riddled with former silver mines. There is a Methodist chapel (brought by the Cornish), plus pasty shops and union jacks and english names in evidence. The Museum has an historical archive and mining library for study which could be really useful in the future, quite a lot of maps (which I particularly like) and random displays of photos , models and objects associated with mining. The photo on the right is a map showing the present day city of Pachuca overlaid with mining shafts which clearly are all under the city centre. They are colour-coded with the shaft depths.
