New iconic ship sculpture for Amlwch Feb 16th 2011
16th Feb 2011 saw the installation of an iconic piece of public art in the town centre of Amlwch, Anglesey.
Loosely based on the schooner, “Eilian”, one of the last ships to be built in the shipyard at Amlwch, the sculpture measures 4 metres x 2 metres, and was fabricated in steel by Luke Lister, Blacksmiths and Fabrication Engineers. The sculpture interprets and celebrates the rich and important industrial heritage of Amlwch, and is one of a series of public art commissions undertaken by Jill Randall for the “Copper Kingdom” Project.
